On a boat trailer, you will need to position the Duton-Lainson winch, # DL25215, so that the loading ring on the bow of your boat is the same height or a little higher than the winch drum when the boat is loaded on the trailer.

Since there is no standard for wire colors and functions you will have to determine the function of each wire on the boat trailer. There are two ways to do this, you can trace each wire back to see where they all terminate. Or you can apply 12 volt power to each wire and see what lights up.

In regards to the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers part # CE27636, if you need to extend the uprights more than 19" from outside of the frame you'd have to replace the horizontal bar stock with a longer option. It's removable so that shouldn't be too much of an issue so then you'd just need to take the bar stock to a local supply store and match it up with one that has a length that would work for your trailer.

The bunk brackets will attach to the trailer cross members using U-bolts. Since you don't need a swiveling bracket, the # CE10600G bracket you mentioned would work fine. I do not recommend this but he most likely trimmed down the the clear plastic housing ring to fit the old trim ring over it. In regards to installing the Sliding Under Platform Pontoon Boat Ladder part # 315-FOG3, this will be pretty straight forward. Position the unit where you would like to install it, mark the hole in the flange, drill out the holes, then secure the steps using hardware you provide. I recommend stainless steel hardware. If the winch on the trailer is # PSKR10000301 then it just cranks in and out. There is no freewheel mode and no paw or switch to move in order to go between cranking in and out. this winch does have a brake that automatically holds the load if you let go of the handle (with a minimum of 50 pounds pulling on the line). But once you start cranking again the brake should let go.

Yes, on a 4-Way flat trailer connector there is one covered pin and 3 exposed pins. The one covered pin is the ground. Next to it is the running light pin. Then the left turn signal/brake light pin. And the last pin is right turn signal and brake lights.
